TEACHERS:
Welcome to the Group Four cell research thematic unit Weebly page!
In this site you will find resources to lesson plans for all four content areas based on a common theme of cell research! Students will investigate the importance of cell research and how it effects them and all of society! Through the analysis of STS pedagogy and reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, as an assignment for a graduate course at the University of Mississippi, our group created this unit! Throughout the book, which we do not recommend for fifth grade readers, but do recommend for teachers, and all other adults, we discussed the different interesting topics exposed through Ms. Sklookt's writing. To say the least, we were fascinated! We always found ourselves discussing the different facets of cell research, so when prompted to create a thematic unit using the book, the history of cell research was an easy pick! Please find the different content area lessons in the above pages! Each lesson is aligned with Common Core State Standards, and/or Next Generation Science Standards to ensure high academic success and functional content knowledge. In the above pages you will also find a resources page which includes all of the various resources used to create this unit! Enjoy and happy learning!
